You are in for some tantalizing treats – bon appetit!

Your tour representative will meet you upon your arrival at Johannesburg OR Tambo International Airport and take you to Seasons Sport Leisure & Spa hidden among 300 acres of indigenous vegetation on the northern slopes of the Magaliesburg Mountains. Here you will have the afternoon to spend at your leisure. Enjoy the resort’s spa, play a few rounds of golf, or for something completely different, settle in at the bird viewing hide. The Magaliesburg is an important bird area with 450 species, including the Cape vulture, black stork, and white-backed night heron, making their home here. Dinner is provided at the resort.

      A.   After breakfast, you will move across to the Humala River Lodge deep within the Songimvelo Game Reserve. ‘Songimvelo’ means ‘we are conserving nature’ in the siSwati language. This park forms part of the nearly 170 000-hectare Songimvelo-Malolotja Transfrontier Conservation Area straddling the northern border of Swaziland and the south eastern border of South Africa’s Mpumalanga province. It’s a World Heritage Site as it has the best-preserved volcanic and sedimentary rock formations in the world which date back well over 3 billion years and are decorated with some of the world’s oldest Rock Art. Afternoon tea will set you up nicely for your first sunset game drive to experience first-hand the twilight beauty of the African bush and her wild creatures. Then it’s back to the lodge for dinner.

With an early departure including breakfast on-the-go, your destination today is the Pilanesberg National Park for a Big 5 game drive. The 50 000 hectares of this Park are ancient, even by geological time scales, filled with hills, valleys, and broken rock country. Formed by a massive volcanic eruption nearly 1 300 million years ago, it is the site of one of the largest volcanic complexes of its type in the world. The remnants of the explosion can still be seen today. The creation of the Park is considered one of the most ambitious programs of its kind to be undertaken anywhere in the world. Many long-vanished species were re-introduced so you can expect frequent sightings of the Big 5 on your game drive. The Park is the perfect place to enjoy lunch in the middle of the game drive. Once the game drive is over, it’s back to the Seasons so you can freshen up for a uniquely South African farewell dinner.
